Gwendolyn B. “Beryl” Olson was born on June 20, 1932, to Richard and Mary Martin Beck in Carson, North Dakota, and later the family moved to Washington. Beryl passed away peacefully at home in Ethel, Washington on July 22, 2025, with her family by her side.
Beryl met Donald Olsen and they married on December 19, 1948, and started their family just a few years later having three daughters and they settled in the La Grande/Eatonville area.
Beryl taught Sunday School for many years at the Methodist Church and she was an active PTA member at the Eatonville School, as well as a Girl Scout and 4-H leader.
In 1967, Donald was transferred to the Mayfield hydroelectric plant and they then purchased a farm in Ethel.
Beryl was a stay-at-home farm worker and she assisted with raising many types of livestock, putting up hay and raising fryer chickens for Perry Brothers. After Beryl retired from farm work, her husband and her raised Pekingese puppies/dogs.
Beryl is preceded in death by her husband Donald, her parents, and her brothers Randy and Robert Beck.
She is survived by her three daughters Diana (Mike) Gilk, Dawn Merriman, Doreen (Dale) Justice, and her brother Donald Beck as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
