Gregory "Greg" Norris, 69, passed away peacefully at his home in Onalaska, Washington, on August 12, 2026, surrounded by the love of his wife of 39 years, Janet Norris, and his daughter, Carlie Womack.
Greg was born on March 10, 1957, in Quesnel, British Columbia, to Jack and Myrna Norris. At the time, the family was temporarily living in Canada for work. Shortly after his birth, they returned home to Washington and ultimately settled in Morton, where Greg spent his childhood and formed lifelong friendships.
In his younger years, Greg embraced adventure and spent every chance he could hang gliding and skiing. He carried that same passion and determination into adulthood, dedicating his career to the timber industry as a mechanic. An exceptionally talented welder and craftsman, Greg took great pride in the art of metalwork and could build, repair, or create just about anything he set his mind to.
More than his skills and accomplishments, Greg will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, and genuinely joyful spirit. He never hesitated to help a friend, neighbor, or stranger in need. His welcoming nature made everyone feel at home, and as one family member lovingly said, "A stranger was just a friend he'd never met."
Greg and Janet married after dating for 10 years, and built their life together along the Tilton River in Morton, where they raised their daughter, Carlie. There they created a home filled with love, laughter, hard work, and countless cherished memories. In 2020, Greg and Janet moved to Onalaska to be closer to their children and family.
One of the greatest joys of Greg's life was his grandson, Leonard Womack. He treasured every moment spent with Leonard and found endless happiness in watching him grow. Together they spent hours enjoying the simple pleasures of life, whether it was sharing stories, watching movies or the wildlife that wandered through the field outside Greg's home. Leonard brought immeasurable joy, laughter, and purpose to Greg's later years, and their special bond will remain one of the family's most treasured memories.
Greg is survived by his loving wife, Janet (Gilk) Norris; daughter, Carlie (Norris) Womack; son-in-law, Rondal Womack; grandson, Leonard Womack; mother, Myrna (Hanger) Norris; sister, Loriann (Norris) Grose (Danny Grose); brother, Guy Norris; and many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jack Norris.
Greg's legacy lives on in the family he loved, the friends he helped, and the countless lives he touched through his kindness and generosity. He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever held in the hearts of those who knew him.
