Donald Wallace Buswell (known far and wide as Don) was born on August 30, 1922, in his parent’s home in Toledo, Washington. He died in that same home – one where he lived most of his life – on July 23, 2025; just shy of his 103rd birthday. Service to community is a value he passed on to his sons. He was a flight instructor in WWII; a member of the Toledo School Board; a member of the Toledo Lion’s Club; and supported countless community projects.
Don was pre-deceased by Bernice Buswell, his wife of 71 years. He also leaves behind a large extended family including his four sons: Don (Stacey), Carl (Donna), Guy (Rhonda), and Alan (Heidi) – all of Toledo. He also leaves 8 grandchildren (CJ, Ryann, Jerad, Leah, Jessica, Theresa, Tessa, Sara) and 10 great grandchildren. A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 AM on Sunday, August 24th, at Toledo High School. In lieu of flowers, please send a donation in his name to the Toledo Community Foundation or the Toledo Lion’s Club.
