David “Dirty” Martin of Deer Island, Oregon left this earth and joined Thunder Chapter on Thursday, July 25th, 2024 to ride with his brothers who preceded him on that endless highway, on an eternal journey. Dirty, was born December 21st, 1961 in Longview, Washington to Rochelle (Goldberg) and Mike Martin. Dirty, was a dedicated railroad welder and spent his free time with a parachute on his back and his Harley underneath him. Dirty, was magic in the air, and magic on the road. He was a natural at both. Though he could have easily left others in his wake, he always made sure to keep those around him in sight and safe.
Dirty’s greatest love was his wife, Rene Fountaine Martin, his soulmate, whom he worried about more than his own fate in his final days. Fearless in the face of death, his main concern was leaving her behind. Dirty’s selflessness was evident in all aspects of his life—he never met a stranger, and everyone he encountered felt his warmth and generosity. His legacy as a legend in life will continue even in death.
He is survived by his wife, Rene; his brothers Brett, Michael, and Doug; his sister Syndi; his son and daughter-in-law Michael and Nicole; his step-children Jasmine, Jeff and, Curtis, his grandchildren Charity, Trinity, and Victor; his Uncle Richard “Dick” and Aunt Vicky; his nieces Tina, Emily, Rikki, and Samantha x2; his nephew Jarrett; and numerous cousins, grandnieces, and grandnephews, as well as extended family. Dirty also leaves behind his Road Brother family and countless friends whose lives he touched, whether as “that barefoot skydiver,” “the guy with the huge ape hangers,” or simply “the friendly guy you met at the store talking about fishing.”
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to First Descents at https://firstdescents.org/get-involved/donate/ or to the OHSU Knight Cancer Clinic, Surgical Oncology Primary and Metastatic Liver Cancer Fund at https://give.ohsufoundation.org/?pid=cancer.
