Betty Asta Lee Hancock

Betty Asta Lee Hancock passed away peacefully after a long battle with Parkinson’s Thursday, July 24, 2025, at Lander House in Centralia, WA. Betty was born January 18, 1937 in Haysville, NC to Wiley and Esta Stamey. She was the middle child of three, and born on her father’s birthday.

Her family moved to Ryderwood, WA in the 1940’s. She attended school there until the family moved to Vader, WA in 1952; she then attended Toledo High School. On June 4, 1954, she married William Rex Hancock at Vader Assembly of God. They made their home and raised their family in Vader, where Betty lived for 71 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband Rex, and son Randy. Her parents Wiley and Esta, sister Gearldine Hammer, brother Ron Stamey and niece Carrie Horton.

She is survived by her daughter Rhonda (Shane) Counts, grandchildren Brandon (Neasha) Hancock, Amber (Matt) Counts, Danielle Hancock, Chelsea Counts and Ian Hancock. Two great-granddaughters, Zada Hancock and Scarlett Kennedy.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 pm, Tuesday, August 5, 2025, at Fir Lawn Funeral Chapel in Toledo, WA.

Memorial contributions may be made to Vader Assembly of God or the Parkinson’s Foundation.
