William Howard Ramsaur

July 30, 1933 — June 25, 2021

William Howard Ramsaur, 87, of Chehalis, Wash., passed away in Olympia June 25, 2021, following a brief illness. William was born July 30, 1933, in Centralia, Wash., to Perry Howard and Fannie (Christensen) Ramsaur. William graduated from Centralia High School and attended Centralia College. William married his sweetheart, MaryJane Tereski, in Centralia August 24, 1957. He proudly served our country with the United States Navy, and continued to offer his support as a member of Centralia’s American Legion Post 17. During his lifetime, William had several careers. He sold real estate statewide and operated his own beer distributorship in Hoquiam,Wash., but was best known locally as ‘The Jerky Guy,’ selling preserved meats off of Highway 99 between Centralia and Rochester.

His children were very important to him, and he was quite proud of them. He was generous and kind, and would do anything for the people he loved without hesitation. He was a big believer in paying it forward; during the last several months of his life, enjoyed baking cookies for his friends and neighbors. William loved hunting, fishing, and clam digging; and was an avid golfer. He loved taking his boys to golf whenever he had the opportunity. He loved his flower garden; making jerky; entering bottle draws at the Legion; and having lunch at The Limit in Centralia, which he and MaryJane ran in the 90’s.

William is lovingly remembered by his daughter, Debbie (Steve Bickar) Buzzard of Hoquiam; sons, William Howard “Bill” Ramsaur Jr. of Littleton, Colo., and Stephen (Joyce) Ramsaur of Firestone, Colo.; grandchildren, Jenilee and Lacey Buzzard, both of Chehalis, Becky Godden of Bailey, Colo., and Stephanie Sharp of Loveland, Colo; and numerous great-grandchildren.
William’s family will host a celebration of his life from 1 PM to 6 PM Saturday, August 14, at 602 172nd Ct SE, Tenino, Wash. In lieu of flowers, his family asks that donations be made to the American Legion, or to a charity of your choice.
