Jolanda Rae Ann Nein

July 22, 1972 — March 4, 2022

JoLanda Rae Ann ‘Jo’ Youngblut Nein, 49, of Silver Lake, Wash., left us for Heaven Friday, March 4, 2022, after a car accident in the neighboring town of Castle Rock.

Our beloved ‘Jo,’ ‘JoJo,’ or ‘Aunty Jo,’ was born July 22, 1972, in Longview, Wash., to Walter and Connie (Russell) Youngblut.
She graduated from Southwest Open High School in Cortez, Colo., in 1990. She returned to the Kelso/ Longview area in March of 1992, and went on to graduate from Trend Business College with certification in Professional Office Administration that same year. She then attended Lower Columbia College so that she could go to work as a Certified Home Care Aide. She also attended Beauty College within this time frame.

On June 5, 1993, Jo married Larry Dean Nein at the Pleasant Hill Grange Hall in Kelso.
Jo was a homemaker for a time, before going to work as an in- home caregiver. She was forced to retire in 2021, following a debilitating knee injury.

Jo had fun decorating for her favorite holiday, Christmas. She spent lots of time crocheting or doing bead work. She loved to travel, whether on vacation with Larry, or driving long haul with him for his job. She especially enjoyed trips to the beach in Seaside, Ore., and their 25th Anniversary cruise off the coast of Venezuela. She loved her dachshund, Stomper, chihuahua, Gracie, and their cats.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Connie.

She is survived by her husband, Larry; brothers, De Youngblut and Deno Simpson; sisters, Shawana Compton, Niki Russell, and Tari Haffner; father, Walter; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and other dear friends.

Visitation will be open from 3 PM to 7 PM Friday, March 11, at Dahl- McVicker Funeral Home in Kelso. There will be a brief opportunity for viewing at 10 AM Saturday, March 12, at Spirit of Life Church of God in Kelso. The funeral will begin at 11 AM at Spirit of Life, followed by interment at Cowlitz View Memorial Gardens, also in Kelso. A luncheon will be hosted at the church immediately following interment.
