Dorothy "Joyce" Lucier Jacques Sanderson, was born to Wilfred Theodore "Ted" and Audray Lavina (Minnick) Lucier on October 09,1934 in Gladstone, Michigan, and passed away at home in Kelso, WA on March 05, 2023.
Joyce, is survived by her husband, Gary Sanderson, daughters; Linda (Jacques) Roth and Kimberly Jacques, a son Jon Jacques, stepdaughters; Kelly (Sanderson) Chappelle and Karen (Sanderson) Leff, and a sister Sharon (Lucier) Moore, as well as 16 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by both parents, a brother, Theodore "Ted" Lucier, a sister Juanita (Lucier) Bogdan and her son James Theodore "Jake" (Carola) Jacques.
Joyce, came from a large family with strong values and she was a devoted wife, mother, "Nana" and friend to many. She was loving and generous, always putting others first. Her smile would light up any room and she cherished her friendships old and new. Joyce, was very outgoing and in her earlier years belonged to Campfire Girls, the Seabees, WSU Extension Homemakers Club and Ruff and Ruffles Square Dance Club. She attended R.A. Long High School in Longview, WA and was an active member of St Mary Catholic Church in Castle Rock, WA.
Joyce was an excellent homemaker, avid gardener and canner, as well as an exceptional seamstress and she enjoyed crocheting, and creating many keepsakes for her loved ones. She looked forward to the many gatherings with family and friends. She loved the years she spent working at the Castle Rock School with the kids and the lifelong friendships she made with her coworkers.
She had a true passion for travel and Joyce and Gary snow-birded for over 10 year circling the states two times in their 5th wheel. She proudly told people that she had done this and also traveled to Europe. Joyce was an avid Seahawk and Mariners fan. Joyce and Gary enjoyed time at their Hood Canal property, especially for the seafood get togethers.
Rosary Service will to be at 10:30am and Mass at 11:00am on Saturday March 25th at St Mary Catholic Church at 120 Powell Rd, Castle Rock, WA., with reception to follow at the church hall.
